Sarah Davidson

If you don't already know who Sarah Davidson is, you're probably living under a rock. With a brand new single "Drink You Up" on iTunes, her highly anticipated EP scheduled for release on March 25, and a fabulous new hit show on TNT "Private Lives of Nashville Wives", how the hell could you not know who she is?

The Valdosta, Georgia native has said she's always known she wanted to be an entertainer. And if you've heard her new single, or been lucky enough to see her live, you're already aware that she clearly wasn't meant to do anything else! Having worked at Curb records, had publishing deals with both Curb & EMI, and attended Belmont University as a music major, it's clear that if there's one thing Sarah knows, it's the music business.

With Country music's ever-growing "all boys club", it's so refreshing to hear new music from a talented female singer/songwriter! Sarah's new single is a mixture of peach-sweet lyrics and a fun melody. I've already pre-ordered her debut EP and cannot wait for March 25!!

The girl is breathtakingly gorgeous, incredibly talented, has impeccable style, and if you watched PLONW, you know that she's funny to boot! Not to sound too cliche, but she's the total package! She's certainly got one hell of a career in front of her and I cannot wait to watch her blow up! Sarah has said that she has her sights set on being "the next big thing" in Nashville. Somethin' tells me that this Georgia girl isn't gonna have any problems with that!!

You can keep up with Sarah on her fabulous website: SarahDavidson.com

Another Georgia boy done good...

Colden Rainey or as we know him, Cole Swindell, like so many of the top-of-the-chart-sitters in Country, is a good ol'e boy from a small town in South Georgia. Cole's road to Nashville reads a little different than his fellow GA boys, though. After graduating from Georgia Southern University in 2007, Cole went on the road selling merchandise for current ACM Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan. And was so good at it, Luke and the rest of the band & crew, praised him with the title of Best New Male Merch 2009! He got a t-shirt & everything!

In 2010, after being granted what Luke calls "His resignation from t-shirt land", Cole signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and began writing his ass off! Even having an astonishing TEN songs between all 4 of Luke's "Spring Break" EP's & his current album "Crash My Party". Pretty impressive for the guy folding pink panties in the beginning of the "Country Man" video. (Yeah Cole, we know it's you!) In 2013, he (independently) released his single "Chillin' It" and it set XM Radio on fire! Now, opening up for Luke on his That's My Kind of Night Tour, along with Lee Brice, Cole is setting the whole world on fire. His debut album is available on iTunes & Amazon for pre-order & is set to be released on February 18. I personally, could not be more excited!

Currently, you can preview Cole's on iTunes First Play. If you don't have the album pre-ordered, you're seriously missing out! Not only is Cole an absolutely amazing songwriter, but he's a gifted vocalist as well. He certainly knows how to deliver a song.

I love the whole album! But... just like with any other, you do tend to pick your favorites. Mine being "The Backroads & The Back Row" (Which I miss-wrote in a tweet that Mr. Swindell was kind enough to correct me on! Thanks darlin'!!) "A Dozen Roses & A Six-Pack", "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight", and "Down Home Boys". The album in it's entirety is phenomenal! With "Chillin' It" having already sold over 682,000 copies, I think it's safe to say that we've got another Georgia boy headed straight to the top!!

Personally, I've always felt like there was no place on Earth, better than Texas. I'm startin' to think I might be wrong. ;) -- Congratulations on all of your success Cole! It's awesome watching your rise to the top!

Luke Bryan's Greensboro, NC show postponed due to Winter Storm Pax

Greensboro, NC (February 12, 2014)  -- Tomorrow evening’s Luke Bryan concert in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum has been postponed.  The concert will now play on Monday, February 17, President’s Day, due to Winter Storm Pax moving into the southeast through Thursday evening. Dan + Shay

Okay, I've got to be honest in saying that while I've been hearing a buzz about Dan + Shay, I had not heard their music until this morning. I've been missing out! These guys are beyond talented! Not to mention, cute as hell! With the release of their official video for "19 You + Me", I think it's safe to say these guys are well on their way!! There are so many new artists coming out right now and to be perfectly honest, it seems like record execs are just standing at the end of the street, handing out contracts! It's so refreshing to see AND hear two guys who can actually carry a tune in a bucket. I know that these days in country music, everybody is all about the songwriting. That's important. I'm not saying it isn't. You've got to have a great song! BUT, you've also got to have the vocals to pull it off! Dan + Shay have it! Whatever IT is, they've got it. I'm not an easy one to impress. But, they managed to do it! Wishing them great success! I hope I get to write more about them in the future!

Settin' goals, and makin' plans!

I've thought long and hard over the last year about what I really want to do with the rest of my life. Kids are out of the question. I can't have em'. Which is really for the best, considering I believe some people are meant to be Momma's, and some aren't. I'm not. I make a fabulous "Aunt Jo"! But I was never meant to be a Momma. I don't know that I'll ever get married. Or really even want to for that matter. With the marriage success rate declining day by day, it just doesn't seem too appealing. So, with that said, I'm thinking that it's best that I focus on me, my life, and how I want to pursue my dreams.

I love to sing. I've been singing since I was a little girl. I'm pretty good. Not necessarily "The Voice" material, but I can hang. Although, I came to terms with the fact a long time ago that I was never gonna be a "Female Vocalist of the Year" winner. So, the only thing left to do, is pursue what has become the second greatest love of my life. Writing. I started this blog last Summer. And since then, it has given me so much joy, connected me with so many different Country artists, and really driven me to see what I'm capable of.

So I've set a goal. I am 28 years old. By my 33rd birthday, which is a little less than 5 full years from now, I want to be in Nashville. My dream is to go to Nashville and write or produce for CMT, GAC, Country Weekly, Music Row.com, Nashvile Gab.com, or People Country. My ABSOLUTE dream job would be to work with or for Cody Alan! I've listened to and watched him for years. He's an incredible talent and I'm in such awe of him. -- I never really thought of myself as a writer. I always knew that I could bring my Sister (who NEVER cries) to tears with a hand-written card. But I never thought that it was something I would not only love & enjoy, but be good at. Turns out, I'm not half bad. And my absolute dream would be to live & work in the Country Music capitol of the world!

I've never believed that any goal or dream was unrealistic. If you work hard enough, you can achieve ANYTHING. Okay, so that sounds a little corny. But it's 100% true. So that's the deal. Five years from today, I hope to be writing this from my desk... in Nashville, Tennessee.

Here goes nothin'...

Miranda Lambert - The future Queen of Country!

Being an East Texas girl myself, I'm obviously proud to call Miranda Lambert, one of us. I knew the minute I saw her on 'Nashville Star' that the girl just had that thing! Ya know, that thing. The thing that you can't quite put your finger on, but that lets you know without a doubt that she's gonna take the world by storm! And with 38 awards and countless nominations under her belt, with wins including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and so many more, I think it's safe to say that she has!! Academy of Country Music Award Nominations were announced just a couple of weeks ago and this year, Miranda is up for 7!! Including 2 Nods for Vocal Event of the Year for her band Pistol Annies collaboration with Blake Shelton in "Boys 'Round Here" and her collaboration with Keith Urban in "When We Were Us"! Not to mention, she just announced joining Jason Aldean in select MLB Stadiums this year on his Burn It Down Tour! This girl is on fire!!!

Miranda is the girl you wanna go huntin' with. Go muddin' with. Have a beer with. Sit on the porch and strum a guitar with. And she's most definitely the girl you call when you need to scare the shit outta somebody! She is one bad ass chick!! And I love all of those things about her! You can relate to her. At least, I've always been able to.

One of the things that I admire most about Miranda is that she's not just a performer. She's a songwriter! She writes her thoughts, her experiences, her feelings. And she shares them with us! In my opinion there's no greater way for an artist to express themselves. Sure, anybody can sing a song that gives you chill bumps. But when that artist is the one who wrote it, it has the ability to take you out of wherever it is that you are, and put you smack dab in the middle of that song!

Case and point: Miranda's newest single - "Automatic"

This song takes you back to a time when life was honestly, a little bit easier. Back to a time when things moved a little bit slower and you had to work for every, single, teeny, tiny, thing you had. If you know anything at all about Miranda, you know that this is how she's lived her life. She has worked her ass off for everything she's got. So, when she sings about it, you feel it. You feel those words just flow through you. Because you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that the words she's singing are from pure experience.

When you think about the most influential women in country music, names like, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Barbara Mandrell, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, & Reba come to mind. They, and so many others have paved the way for girl singers and songwriters in the genre of music that has always been a man's world. But believe me when I say that the future for women in Country looks very, very bright with Miranda Lambert leading the way. In my personal opinion, she IS the future Queen of Country Music! She's talented, inspiring, heartfelt, and genuine. And I cannot wait to see what she's got up her sleeve!
